And now for something completely different.

So as you will know I love travelling, but it has come to my attention I haven’t been able to travel recently due to work, money and time, therefore I have come up with a rather left field idea to keep you all reading my content.

Today approximatly 20 minuets ago I emailed the majority of embassys in London. Below is the email I have sent.

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is John and I am an aspiring travel writer who loves to experience new cultures and I have my own website www.195wanderer.com where I talk about my travelling.

I have come to realise that I will likely never get to travel to every country in the world for obvious monetary and time constraints. However, this does not mean I cannot learn more and possibly have a piece of each country and culture.

So I am writing to you today to ask if you would be willing to send me something from your country. This could simply be a letter from your embassy, a pamphlet about your country, a flag or a pen, to name some examples.

I intend to send this email to as many countries embassy’s as possible and then create an article about this on my website. I would love to include your country in that article. I have put my address below and eagerly await your reply.

Thank you very much for your time,

Kind Regards,

Mr John Metcalfe.

Obviously I have removed my address from the email so you lovely people don’t bombard me with fan mail!

I can confirm that even though I took the emails from the london diplomatic list on the .gov site of foreign embassies in the UK, I recived 17 bouce back emails immediatly stating the address does not exist. A sad day for .Gov. However, I did recive 4 out of office replies and so far one automated reply from Angola simply refering me to their website. A few of the embassys did not have email addresses, most notibly the U.S.A. However, I hold out hope for the other 159 consolates I have emailed.

All that is left to do is watch this space! Any and all replies will be written about on here, be that an email reply or some sort of posted letter or item and I look forward to telling you all about it!
