Recently myself and the wife were lucky enough to have a two week break in which we went to my brother’s wedding. Though like any good travelers we decided to make the most and take in as many of the sights as possible. Flying in to München (Munich) a week early with day trips to Dachau, Nürnberg (Nuremberg), a week in Füssen and a wedding ceremony just outside Reutte, Austria, all planned; this is the introduction post, with many more to come.
It all started at 2am, Chester, UK. A tired wife is rudely awakened by an excited husband. A loving mother-in-law and a very caring dog sitter arrive at 3am. A rather tired dog is confused as to why everyone is awake, as is the wife by the look on her face; clearly the early start isn’t for everyone.
3.15am, we were off to the airport and the anticipation increases. Our first abroad trip together since our honeymoon 6 years ago! 4am we arrive at the airport, before we know it we are in the air and of course, the wife is back to sleep; whilst I watch the world race by outside the plane window. A somewhat bumpy landing wakes her and we arrive, München, Germany.
After a little confusion as to where the baggage pick up is, we are on our way into the centre of the city and after what we later discovered was an unnecessary train change, we were at our hotel by midday, Hampton by Hilton in DonnersbergerBrücke (ooo fancy). Credit to the lovely staff member who let us check in 3 hours early! A half day of relaxation began before the rest of the trip and by relaxation, I mean running around and seeing the local area with a quick stop for beers and snacks!
Stay tuned for the rest of the trip in new posts coming soon, though if my pithy story telling style isn’t enough to keep you baying for more, hopefully these pictures will whet your appetite.
Until then, auf Wiedersehen.
